What TikTok LIVE Studio Is
Background

TikTok LIVE Studio is TikTok's official desktop streaming application — their answer to OBS Studio, but built specifically for TikTok. It allows creators to stream from a computer with scenes, window capture, overlays, alerts, and chat management, all within a single app.

It supports the following source types relevant to Blaze Gaming: Window Capture (captures a single app window — this is how Xbox Remote Play gets fed in), Game Capture (higher resolution, but not available for all games), Display Capture (full desktop), and Cast from Android/iOS (phone screen mirror).

Access Requirements
Blaze Gaming doesn't meet standard requirements yet

TikTok has two access tiers for LIVE Studio:

Creator Type Follower Requirement Blaze Gaming Status
Gaming creator (has posted game-related content or gone live with gaming content) 1,000 followers NOT MET YET
Non-gaming creator 10,000 followers NOT MET YET
Application bypass (active streamers on other platforms) No follower minimum — TikTok reviews manually APPLIED — UNDER REVIEW

The application submitted tonight is the bypass route — it's specifically for creators who stream consistently on other platforms (like Twitch) and want LIVE Studio access before hitting 1,000 followers. Result comes back within 3 business days.

Additionally: regardless of LIVE Studio access, going live on TikTok by any method requires 1,000 followers. LIVE Studio can be downloaded, configured, and fully set up before hitting that threshold — but the broadcast button won't activate until 1K is reached.

Xbox → TikTok LIVE Studio Setup (No Capture Card)
Method confirmed

The cleanest method for streaming Xbox gameplay into TikTok LIVE Studio uses Xbox Remote Play as a window source — no capture card, no extra hardware. Here are the exact steps as documented:

  • Download the Xbox App on the laptop/Mac
  • On Xbox console: Settings → Devices & Connections → Remote Features → Enable Remote Play
  • In the Xbox App: launch Remote Play and select the console — the Xbox screen now mirrors to the computer
  • In TikTok LIVE Studio: Add New Source → Window Capture → select the Xbox App window
  • Set up camera and audio sources as desired
  • Hit Go LIVE in LIVE Studio

Twitch runs simultaneously via Xbox's native broadcast feature (Settings → Preferences → Broadcast & Capture on the console). The two streams are independent — Xbox handles Twitch natively, Mac handles TikTok via LIVE Studio + Remote Play window.

Mac Compatibility — Needs Verification
Confirm when access approved

The steps documented in Finding 03 reference the Xbox App on a laptop — typically Windows. The Xbox App is available for Mac, but full Remote Play functionality on Mac should be confirmed once LIVE Studio access is approved.

Additionally, TikTok LIVE Studio itself has uneven Mac support: Windows 10 or later is the primary supported OS. Mac support varies by region and is less widely available. If LIVE Studio doesn't fully work on Mac, the fallback is OBS Studio + TikTok Stream Key — which achieves the same result (window capture of Xbox Remote Play → stream to TikTok via RTMP).

Bottom line: do not assume full Mac compatibility until LIVE Studio access is granted and tested. The setup should be verified at the meeting with Mars before committing to this workflow.

The 1,000 Follower Wall — What It Means for the Roadmap
Growth prerequisite

Even with LIVE Studio access approved, TikTok will not allow broadcasting until the account hits 1,000 followers. This is a hard platform requirement with no workaround. It applies to LIVE Studio, mobile live, and RTMP/stream key methods equally.

The practical plan for Blaze Gaming: build and fully configure the TikTok LIVE Studio setup during Phase 2, but treat TikTok Live activation as a Phase 3 growth milestone tied to hitting 1K followers — not a launch-day feature. The clip pipeline (short-form TikTok content from stream recordings) is the primary TikTok growth driver in the meantime.

Twitch Affiliate (50 followers, 500 broadcast minutes, 3 avg concurrent viewers) is still the first priority milestone. TikTok 1K is the parallel goal.

What to do next: Wait for TikTok LIVE Studio access decision (within 3 business days). If approved, download LIVE Studio on Mac and test Xbox Remote Play window capture. Confirm Mac compatibility. If LIVE Studio doesn't work on Mac, fall back to OBS Studio + TikTok RTMP stream key — same result. Either way, the TikTok Live broadcast itself doesn't activate until 1,000 followers is hit.

For the meeting with Mars: Walk him through the 1,000 follower requirement clearly — TikTok Live is a milestone to work toward, not a day-one feature. The setup will be ready; the platform just gates it behind growth. Clip posting on TikTok starts immediately and is the fastest path to 1K.
